Stretch and Breathe

Sometimes it’s good to take a break. Studies have shown that taking time to slow down, be mindful, breathe, stretch and meditate can help you be more productive, more effective and happier. We offer Stretch and Breathe – 20 minutes in the middle of the day to do just that! Take a break to breathe, slow down and experience the benefits. Through mindful practices, breath work, mild stretching and meditation you will return to work rejuvenated, focused and ready to be your best self!  Come as you are; bring a yoga mat or towel.

Gretchen is an adjunct professor in the Drama Department and the full time Costume Shop manager for the Drama Department and Syracuse Stage. To find balance in a busy and stressful life she found yoga in 2006. It has been her life saver, quite literally, by lowering her blood pressure, reducing stress and helping her to find a healthy weight after being threatened with diabetes due to obesity. In 2015 she participated in the 200 hour teacher training certification program at the Dharma Yoga Center in NYC with Sri Dharma Mittra and has been teaching ever since. She is currently pursuing her 500 hour certification. Gretchen is excited to bring the Stretch and Breathe program to SU faculty and staff to bring a little quiet sanity to a busy day, and hopefully give everyone tools to use on a daily basis to reduce their own stress and blood pressure. In loving service, Om Shanti.
